One of the first epics ever written, to be exact. From the ancient Mesopotamian region(present day Iraq). Gilgamesh took on the pursuit of everlasting life. The Epic of Gilgamesh was also the first story to chronicle a "great flood" and a couple other staples of ancient literature.
