This explosion has killed over 250,000 people. Hiroshima can't even be visited anymore because of the nuclear radiation.

Japan invades other countries in Asia First & kills WELL OVER 10,000,000 people in Asia. Japan loses 250,000 in two cities and they try to play the victim while lying about all their war crimes & invasions??? Please....

Roosevelt merely shut off selling oil to the Japanese and freezing their US assets, all in response to the refusal of Japan to uninvade China , if he hadnt, you would be the one pointing the finger at him saying, Roosevelt was complicit in the Rape of Nanking because he was an enabler by selling the Japanese oil and funding their war machine. Pretzel logic is always revealed by the contra. Estimates of non-combatant deaths due to the Japanese in S.E Asia summer of 1945 were 250,000 -400,000.

Besides that, Roosevelt did force us into this position. He was showing aggressiveness to the Japanese and that's why they attacked Pearl Harbor. He got us into it for the profits.

It's a terrible tragedy no doubt but it's a tragedy they could have avoided. All the other options were far worse. Invading would have resulted in millions of deaths on both sides; they would have defended Japan to the last man. A blockade would have taken too long and would have been a cruel thing to have to starve them. The irony is that the nuke was the most merciful choice because it'd have scared them into surrender. But still, it's definitely not a proud moment in history.

While I agree with you, we asked them to surrender four times and they refused... I still feel a great amount of remorse for those who did not belong in the war and got the boom-lowered on them, literally. I feel for the children, the mothers, the fathers, grandparents, I feel for people and their pain. That is why war, albeit nescessary (forced) is stupid, petty and has zero morality. It's basically who can top who.
