Bonamassa stop playing Strats, well newer strats because he said he was sick of SRV comparisons even though he really doesnt sound like SRV. Joe came down hard on people who clone the sound of SRV...saying they are good players but copy SRV waaay too much...from guitars with initials, fender amp with a tubescreamer...etc etc Joe now plays Gibson Les Pauls and has a sig. LP coming out soon. He got pissed @ Fender cuz they copied his gold sparkle strat without his permission giving him no credit

You he copies srv. Thats how he wants to sound. Hes a guitar guitar player but its not there. Not like srv at least. Its so fake. I don't like this guy. Shut up!

I think Kenny states the obvious about himself from 4:33 to 4:50...and Hubert seems to agree LOL!!

i think kenny wayne is just too technical with his playing, there's nothing wrong with being technical but too much of that is eventually gonna hinder his creativity. on the other hand, john mayer, though not a purist as kenny wayne has managed to get away from the SRV style and search for his own sound

i think kenny is good. his aim is that SRV sound. his style just seems to miss that yearning. His sound may have a too much of a scientific approach? I dunno... I have a few of his cd's. Sometimes though, it doesn't sound genuine. He has talent but I think he missed something along the way that has nothing to do with his approach to guitar but maybe to life. It's good, BUT something just isn't right. |
