Some said it couldn't hover or even fly at all for that matter. Mode I Radios made it tough for USA pilots who cant fly airplanes in Mode I either. I tried and tried to not allow the American distributors sell it with a Mode I radio, but it was out of my hands by then. That is why it sold so well overseas, where they fly mode I.Because this machine was new, and unconventional, it was beyond most Mode II fliers flying capability who had no understanding of basic helicopter theory and aerodynamics. Here I show exactly what it could do. (And of course in the right hands), they were proven wrong, as I demonstate the extremes in this video. The Hyperfly turned out to be the most sold model of all time in Kyosho's history. Most of the sales came from overseas where people did not give up learning to fly it like they did in the USA. It ran it's sales course for 9 years, which is longer than most innovative flying machines that typically have a sales life expectancy of only 2 years or less. It was featured in Aviation Weekly and Space Technology magazines. The original is on display at the San Diego Aerospace Museum which was donated by Aki Suzuki of Kyosho Corporation. I had to successfully fly it for the museum staff first, to prove it's airworthyness. This machine was originally designed by me to prove a point. And that point was that I could take any electric ETRM helicopter, take the tail rotor motor off, put a plastic plate on the tail and fly around just fine. You may have seen it in one of my other Hyperfly videos on youtube. It was a new kind of flying machine that only needed a 2 channel radio to fly. I hope you enjoy this bit of more R/C history folks. Thanks for watching. To see the first Prototype fly, see the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

You hit the nail on the head with the crutch analogy! A lot of people don't know what committment, patience, and hard work IS any more. (sometimes, I get pretty lazy myself!)As for the 9 tips... YES! If I can learn from your experiences, that's just like money in the bank! (this R/C stuff is expensive!) Well, not expensive to fly, but expensive to crash (over and over again!)Sure, send them over! Thanks!(red bull rolls a real heli over on youtube. you gotta see it.)

Thanks very kindly. We never had gyros when we began flying helis years ago, so people who say you cant fly without a gyro are obviously not very coordinated. If you learn to walk with crutches, you will never be able to walk without them, is my theory. Only 4% of the people who try to learn helis can. It is a low number because there are 7 controls that have to be managed all at once and all the time. Have you got my 9 heli flying tips? If not, I can PM them to you. Good luck and have fun.

Wow! Very Impressive! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. After repairing my blade cp a "blue million" times this past summer, I've finally mastered fwd flight and upgraded to a 450Size electric. Watching and learning from you helped keep me going. I knew it could be done, I just had to try again (and again). It's funny, I JUST read a website that said you can't fly a heli w/o a gyro. It seems as if you'd proved them wrong.I'm considering modding my Blade to try this kind of flight now!

Thanks. Two different frequencies, same kind of heli, but still impossible to do very long with managing 14 different controls at once. Regular helis have 7 control that have to be managed all the time while flying with the 2 sticks. It is pretty near impossible to do.. Thanks again.

this had nothing to do with this video but i watched a couple of ure other videos and noticed that u know 1 or 2 things about helis !!! r u able to fly 2 of the same helis at the same time or do they have to b 2 drifferent types of helicopters? or 2 drifferent frequencies? please replie! thanks andrew

Thanks very kindly for your comments. I appreciate it. It all takes time. Get a Lama V4 or Blade cx2 and you will have better success.

Spot on when i can fly like this i will be werthy to leave you a message i started with a 4ch non tail rotor and at about 30 ft the wind took it and i found it about 200yds away smashed so my hat goes off to you, i have a 3ch with a tail rotor now and do not think it can fly aswell as the 4ch with no tail rotor!!
NightFlyyer (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yes, thanks. Well 20 years ago, when there were no gyros or micro-flyer electrics helis, this was the best thing someone could get with only 2 channels to see what it was like to fly around without having to learn to hover. You cant get one anyway now.

i like how youve simplified it, now ive seen the video i want to try one to see what it feels like to fly, but i think id still rather stick with a real heli with a tail rotor.
