i live so freakin close to Allentown, this song describes Bethlehem which is a neighboring city, the only reason it's called Allentown is because Bethlehem didn't rhyme with anything. the steel mill is in my hometown of Bethlehem, not Allentown, the big draft site for WWII was in Bethlehem. the iron mill is still up and rusted out, but it has a beautiful memorial out front. it's beautiful.

Just saw "The Stranger" (live) on PBS. Funny to think that Allentown was almost included on this album (according to Phil Ramone). Awesome, awesome song ... but much better fit on TNC.
