Agree. Much as it suits people and the media to perpetuate the belief that he was a morbid, tortured soul, Ian Curtis was, as Barney Sumner put it, "a real laugh". Granted, his lyrics weren't sunshine and light, but that was his stage persona. In person he was just one of the boys.

Zenburger, Ian was not "possessed by dark forces", he was just a man, trying to deal with the multiple pressures of infidelity, marital failure, impending stardom and the rigours of epilepsy. Any one of which was bad enough, is it any wonder that he eventually found it all just too much to bear and live with??

He may well have been having one. Ian had epilepsie(sp)and was not the drug abuser people think he was.Some say that the prescription drugs he took against his disease did him in but I don't buy that.
