THIS IS STUPID SINGHALA GOVT PROPAGANDA! IT is a FACT that the Army has been unable to maintain control over vast areas of the country that they claim to control!!!Typical guerilla war where the Tigers melt away and strike at places and times of their choosing!!!!

The LTTE or Tamil Tigers desire an island divided and segregated along ethnic lines. A mono-ethnic Tamil state was devised in the dark ages. Today, we know that segregation is NOT the answer but the problem. In reality, Tamils in present-day Sri Lanka live and work peacefully in Colombo and have their ethnic language recognized by the state. Many of the grievances used to justify the rebel movement have actually been resolved. There is no real "ethnic conflict" anymore but an ideological one.

In March a US state department report accused government forces and allied militias of unlawful killing, torture, hostage-taking and extortion with impunity.
