In Britain one can simply hop on a train or ferry and be in another country in no time. Americans also have a very short vacation period so traveling abroad usually isn't an option for them so they settle for something a little closer. I'm sorry that you blindly read off "statistics" like they're the word of god and ignore the facts behind them. There really is nothing I can do to convince you of your ignorance, you are a very bitter person.

Now Europeans have more passports than Americans, that's a fact. But if you compare the rates of how many of those passport holders travel outside of Europe it is a lot closer to the percentage of Americans who travel abroad. Also you forget that the U.S. is almost twice as large as Europe making travel to other countries way more expensive. Even traveling to Canada and Mexico can be costly for some.

Let me clarify some stuff for you. First of all there are many countries that U.S. citizens can travel to without a passport but this will be fixed in Jan 09. Here's the list: Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Mexico, Micronesia, Netherlands Antilles, Palau, Panama, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Pierre & Miquelon, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, British Virgin Islands, British West Indies, & French West Indies.

You continue to show your absolute idiotic stupidity. Easy to leave NA and experience other cultures? What like the local chinese restaurant? lol. Those stats were facts, however i know it's easy for americans to deny everything, like the failure of vietnam, the iraq war, their economy, the fact most of u r illiterate n don;t travel niwere. Yes, its a comedy show, unfort however the yanks the chasers were interviewing were not joking. america wins the prize for THE dumbest nation alive.

Copy Pasta eh? Just to clarify some stuff from your statistics; 1/4 of the people polled for the illiteracy rate were foreigners who recently immigrated to the U.S. and obviously would not be able to read well. You don't need to be a U.S. citizen to be a part of a U.S. census, just currently living there. Another 26% were reported with having mental and physical disabilities, and another 19 percent had vision problems making it harder for them to read. But statistics are statistics right?

Fuckn A they are...Check this TRUE STORY. A travel agent in the US was doing a funny promotion and said "whoever books their tickets to Hawaii in the next hour will get their US Dollar exchanged for Hawiann $ for a great exchange price. Apparently the ticket sales went through the rough. True story - google it. The yanks were SO angry to find out Hawaii uses US Dollar. Be like them trying to tell Aussies to exchange for Tassie dollars ROFL

For the illiterate, despair and defeat serve as daily fare. Can any of us who do know how to read really understand the sadness that is associated with the inability to read? Can we truly relate to the silent humiliation, the quiet desperation that can't be expressed, the hundreds of ways that those who cannot read struggle in shame to keep their secret? The struggle out of illiteracy ... is still a part of the story of America

cont: * 50 percent of all seniors graduating from high school can be classified as being functionally illiterate. "92 million Americans have low or very low literacy skills -- they cannot read above the 6th grade level. To be illiterate in America -- or anywhere for that matter -- is to be unsafe, uncomfortable and unprotected. |
