Hm. I'm a reader, so I guess if I run out of books, I'll take a look at it.

Yes, I did but I skipped bits. I could not say that I would recommend it. It is a bit like mork and mindy meets Camus' "The Outsider" existential agnst coupled with bafflement at human customs. As a teenager it was a nice reflection of how I felt at the time (still feel!?) but it is a long book, and quite polit-religio-social commentary, so hard going. Worth sniffing perhaps.

Did you ever read Stranger in a Strange Land? I'm just wondering if it's a good book, I'm not trying to call you out on anything.

I don't expect the film to understand or be affected by me but, something like that.

To grok (pronounced /ˈgrɒk/) is to share the same reality or line of thinking with another physical or conceptual entity. Author Robert A. Heinlein coined the term in his best-selling 1961 book Stranger in a Strange Land. In Heinlein's view of quantum theory, grokking is the intermingling of intelligence that necessarily affects both the observer and the observed.

I guess so, and I see your point, but when it gets to the point that everything symbolic, the beauty of the film is lost.
