I think if your a paid mercenary then you are likely to have less standards for morality. Patriotism is an important part to joining the military for a lot of people. But this mercenary idea is dangerous I think because love for ones country and devotion to justice and moral obligations can be replaced with a hunger for money.The idea of mercenaries is dangerous especially with lack of civilian oversight.
