You`re kidding.And this is no subject to kid about.The Nazis demoralized and then exterminated most of Polish Jewry. This is why the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising occurred.The Jews faced imminent death -why not die heroically?Nothing like this was planned for Poles.And, I`m sorry to say, many Poles felt-and still feel-Hitler was right in eliminating the hated Jews.Talk to Polish people about Jews when there are no Jews around.You`ll hear comments evoking memories of Archbishop Glemp.

Is it just me or does the Sonata sound stiff and mechanic here? Also in other parts of the movie, the piano pieces lack subtlety and tenderness... Maybe their choice of a pianist wasn't that good.

different parts of this fantastic, tender and awesome movie, and the most sweet sonata, this is moonlight .he is a great actor, Polansky is a great director. Beethoven forgive me , i have not for you, this music makes my fly. Moonlight, next to you for ever my inmortal beloved.

And remark made by someone in the movie about Poles being hanged for helping Jews - hanged??? Shot on the spot with whole family and possibly neighbours too. Does anyone of you know what the date 01 August 1944 from the movie means? Just curious if it was clear to everyone what really happened in Warsaw on that day...

The only objection to the movie I have is that Polanski being Polish himself portraited the life in 'Aryan' side of Warsaw almost like a picnic - people shopping in the street market in sunshine, choosing a mass of food from well stocked stalls. OMG did he already forget? Reality was that life of Poles just only slightly better than Jews - public executions every day, mass arrests to slave labouring in Germany and death camps, hunger and food smuggling from countryside...

In the lst minutes of the movie Szpilman almost got killed by Polish soldiers who mistaken him for a German. Shame they didn't continue the story from the book. The CO of that Polish unit checked Szpilman's identity later on, gave him towel, a piece of soap and showed him a mirror saying: Look how good patriot I am to not run away from you. Szpilman looked like a proper caveman. The only merry moment in the whole book...
