Max Roach is more the innovator of modern drumming than Rich. Rich is a genius of the kit but Roach (and Kenny Clarke) really advanced the instrument truly remarkable ways.

thats true, there is no such thing as best, there is just a bunch of greats, all with different things to offer. It also is taste on behalf of the listener and that is a great forgotten talent. You got to have this talent to hear the talent!!!

Nonsense. Cobham is every bit as good as Rich - maybe better. There is no such thing as the best.

Monsters, they are monsters! Cobham is great, one of the bests, but not the best. Buddy Rich is the inventor of modern drums.

Hey icream70, I don't worry about about other players anymore because my band is better than them all. I don't even know who this Bobby Cobham is, but I know my drummer kicks his ass.
