I still think this is a cute commercial. I know many thought it was disrespectful, but I don't think this rises to the level of "Catholic bashing" and I am a regular mass-attendee who is normally pretty sensitive about that stuff.

I guess that would work. I still wouldn't say the media portrays Catholics negatively, but I think you'd come across as less of a bigot yourself.

Firstly, catholics don't believe the pope is all pure and holy. We call him the Holy Father, because that's just a distinction given to him here on earth but it doesn't literaly mean he is on par with God.Like you said the 'only real pure and holy people' you made a distinction there, 'real'. There is also a saying 'all glory and honour to God' but it's just a saying, a lot of people honour other people, it's not the same as worshipping and you have to understand the context.
