It would have been great to have Robeson star in a movie as Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the liberator of Haiti. The story of Hatian independence (the first free Negro country in the world--preceeding the African independece movement of the 50's and 60s by almost 150 years) is a story that is little know and would make a great epic movie.
