just because the state researches something, doesn't mean it's not fantasy :) states spend money for weirdest things possible. it's not "their" money after all (but the citizens'). read about Trofim Lysenko for example.

not quite: people are simply buying "hope" by playing on the lottery, just like one is buying "entertainment" by paying for a cinema ticket (this investment obviously does not pay back either). they do this so that they can allow themselves dreaming about the win - *that* is the product they actually purchase, and seen as such, it's not irrational behaviour. just a matter of taste.

intuition is nothing psychic or paranormal. it's merely subconscious observations, just like getting the impression someone is lying to you, or attracted to you, by subconsciously noticing this person's enlarged pupils, for example. you are not aware of all the signals you receive, and you usually couldn't put a finger on the reasons for the "impression" you got, but it's nothing out of the ordinary nevertheless.

I agree. It's just awkward watching conartists like this woman pretending they believe the hilarious stuff they say. The look on her face near the end is priceless, like "I've just been made a fool and an embarrassment on national tv...f*ck you Randi".
