A. XCR was entered into SCAR program and they forgot to initially send blank firing adapters-not blank rounds. the military has plenty of those.B. Robinson Arms is too small of a company to supply a rifle to the regs.C. The regular army has never (to my knowledge) looked at this rifle for a replacement to the M4.

I heard that the Army is looking at the Robinson Arms XCR for the regualars to use but the company forgot to make a blank round for the weapon so now they don't want it. well couldn't the company just make a blank round and then the army would want it? or is it too late?

Currently only in 5.56 and 7.62x51. FN had been working on a 6.8 SPC conversion for the light, but I haven't heard much about that. SOCOM would also like one of them to be convertable to 7.62x39, but at this point FN hasn't said anything about that. Once they get the initial order finished, I would think they would start working on that.

SCAR = Special Operations Combat Assault Rifle. SOCOM is getting rid of most AR variants and M14's as well with the SCAR family. Some units are beginning to get them, and I would assume total rearmament of SOCOM forces would be done by the end of next year. The regs are out of luck for the time being. Top brass has recently shown interest in a new rifle (and caliber), but they will likely extend all current weapons systems contracts to 2011.

man. too bad obama won...lolanyways, so will the SCAR eventually replace the AR variants for the US SOCOM? or for just regular infantry men?

Nothing for sure, but the M4 contract to Colt ends in 2009, so we'll know more then. They have put out a request for rifles to test-which could be in a new caliber like 6.8 or 6.5. However, it is kind of late to be doing that if they planned on adopting a new weapon in 2009. That's why I think it will be extended to 2011, but probably not beyond that due to their request of rifle submissions.
