Who are these parents who give their kids what they want? Are they simply the super rich? When I was a kid in the '60s I knew that asking my parents for a toy guaranteed I wouldn't get it! I had to be happy with whatever I got on my birthday or at Christmas. I'm a bit envious of kids today.

No, it's not ethical, Lucy. You know that feeling you got when you paused and stammered when you tried to justify your actions? That was a portion of your soul you just sold. And everything can be bought and sold, right Lucy?

The same kid, now an adult, heard how I cleverly cooked spicy beans and brown rice so he and little buddies would come off the school bus, smell the good food, and run in asking for it, b4 the McDonald's lovin' parents waddled home from work. When I told him, he looked shocked and said, "But, wasn't that kind of manipulative?" Yes it was, and since his brain is not pickled by fast food, he seems to make other consumer choices wisely.

The nagging thing hit home. I was ready to take my young son to the pediatrician because his behavior got so weird but it turned out his little cronies were coaching him in the ways of making your mother cave in and give you whatever you want. I told him straight out that I was a decade younger and about fifty IQ points stronger than his friends mothers. He was nagging very well; I was just more resistant. His self esteem returned, and I stopped worrying he had a brain tumor. Jesus!

That woman in the red blazer is pure evil, make no mistake about it. She makes me want to vomit.
