I play the solo differently in the video compared to the tab. The tab came from musicman1066, as I mentioned on my website. The answer to your question is that there are subtle differences in the tone when you hit the same note on different strings. So no, it wouldn't sound the same if you just hit the note on the b string 4 times. But if it sounds good to you, then go for it.

In the first solo what is the point of hitting the same note on different strings. It is the part where you play 14 on the b string and 18 on the g string. Couldn't you just hit the note on the b string 4 times instead of switching strings?
