I was actually at Top of The Pops when this was filmed. It was all very staged, even down to be told when to clap. This to about 5 takes cause she couldn't get in sink with the music. So yes, she was miming.

This was Top of The Tops! It was well known for the fact that 99.9% of the bands on it mimed. The naffness of this charade was part of the programme's character believe or not!
