Yes a vegetarian diet is more environmentally sustainable and soy beans have to come from areas which are not ex tropical forest land. Many agricultural techniques can be used to reduce their impact on the environment. Unfortunately the Government does not assist much in this change and improvement. It does not have to be GM (while vegan diet requires it). + animals require more care than plants as far as I can see it. E.g: tubers grow in the wild as well + most of what they need is water...!

Most important is to stop eating meat, because 70% of amazonian rainforests are cut down for livestock production. The meat is then exported to the western countries. The same with soy. Its main use is to feed livestock in the west. What a waste! A plant based diet is more than 8 times less energy intensive than a meat diet. Our eating habits have a big impact on the tropical rainforests worldwide.

this is going to be worse if they don't put a stop into it

Most important of all is not planting trees, but not purchasing products that result from rainforest destruction (hardwood, or rainforest woods: mogano), soja beens coming from ex rainforest land, recycle as much as possible rather than purchasing primary industrial products and keep our germline under strict control. Old-growth forests have the most intrinsic and absolute right to exist as they are. Artificial forests will never replace them until our fu...g human species is on the planet.

50 percent of rain forest is gone not 20 people need to plant trees 6and a half billon people on this planet we need to start giving back to this earth if 2 billon people planted two trees twice a year well that would be 8billion trees planted a year wake up people there wont be a livable earth in the future forest are being cut faster than they grow back its up to the individuals to do this not governmets if u dont buy gold jewlery they wont mine it eliminating all those chemicals that polute
