I work there and what we hear is that they where putting on counter weights and something snapped. The counter weights shifted and fell off. Thats when the crane fell over on itself. About 10-15 seconds went by before the thing hit the ground, falling on a scissor lift and another crane. The driver was ejected and killed, two where killed on the scissor lift and the last in the yellow crane. The tip of the crane is less that 100 feet from the maintenance building. Tragic day.....god bless!!

cranes are rated to pick-up its max capacitywhen it is set-up really short with very little boom.the more boom you have the less lifting capacity you have.the lifting prabablycame back to far and the catch pins failed and it fell into the counter weight boom and fell over backward.

The commentator says the crane was capable of lifting one million pounds. Obviously it was not.

Everything is bigger in Texas, and apparently their engineers don't account for that.
