Willie Nelson sure knew how to write them and Faron Young sure knew how to sing them. I think this must have been the golden age of country music when all you had to do was listen to the singer's voice to know who was singing. Great stuff!

Yea, the song simply floats along. Faron sure does it right. Blond on bench in background is kinda cute, but doesnt really have a role other than being cute. I would suppose those folks are in their 70s today.

It just doesn't get any better than this. Not in this lifetime, anyway. RB

To steelking22 : FYI Willie Nelson was a very young up and coming struggling songwriter when he wrote this song for Faron Young," the Singing Sheriff " , whi really was a Sheriff at one time in his life, to record. After Willie established himself as a Songwriter/Singer, then he recorded & his version. But Faron's version was the first to get airplay.

His facial expressions when he sings this song are great. Also his pronounciations of certain words is so unique..love it! :)

Oops!! My comment about the bad joke was supposed to be in reply to VanHowle's comment about an extra verse. I don't know why it showed up here instead of under the original comment. Didn't mean to offend anyone, espcially Willie Nelson.

That sounds like a very bad joke to me. |
