Preset synth sounds are notoriously bad, but I've got some very usable noises out of a GT6-B after a considerable amount of twiddling. Using the the wah pedal to control the cutoff frequency (for example) can open up a whole new world for an otherwise static sound. Adding more conventional effects like chorus, distortion etc can also make a world of difference if you get them at the right point in the effects chain. Treat it as a brand new instrument, rather than a "push and run" effect! :)

You're supposed to use them with short staccato type notes but most people I've spoken to don't play like that very much. A LOT of people seem to share the same opinions as me too. Doing a lot of work trying hard to understand them and really WANT to like them but just don't very much. I'm not the world's greatest player so someone with more experience may be able to get more out of it.

keep up the good work....I'm watching these with interest. The only use I have found for the synth sounds is to plug a cheap keyboard in, not a bass guitar. Improves the sound of a £10 keyboard but that's about it !!! |
