Probably, we almost always only listen to American music, where people who listen to Japanese Music for example are mainly composed of anime fans which people in American tend to be made fun of for some reason

I'm not for a second saying anyone's stupid, I just wondered if it's because radio and TV is more strictly regulated in the USA than in the UK and Australia etc. Or coz a Southern accent doesn't go down well or something.

Why do you think that is? I'm really curious, coz I live in Japan and have been asking American's if they know KOL for the last 3 years. Only one said yes and he thought they were British (somehow).
