WTF does a 500 year head start mean and when does it apply to the inflation/recession that all Americans face, white or black? Does Caucasian mean "free ride" in your blinded logic? Walk a mile in my shoes, "Brother". You are suggesting today's whitey doesn't face "the struggle" our fellow Americans of other skin shades do because of imaginary "socioeconomic advantages". The reference to brother and sister is a lot different than what you think. I am not some white guy shielded from society. No, I live in a black neighborhood and have several good friends here. I am token. I see the difference when some of them greet each other as opposed to me. I don't really care, I guess we are friends on different planes. I freak out some family members in the way I can relate to blacks in different areas. I hugged a woman in KC and wowed my cousin. Big deal.

You are incorrect about many things, but one thing you are wrong about is the sister/brother thing. One of the kindest things I respect about Dr. West is that he refers to EVERYONE as his sisters and brothers.

alwaysopen - You have no idea what you're talking about. Spend a little more time listening to Dr. West and it will soon be apparent that he calls everyone, regardless of race, brother/sister. My white brother has a signed copy of Dr. West's book 'Race Matters' signed "To my brother... "

I listened to a speech of Dr. West today in which he referred to "all his white brothers and sisters." There is nothing racist about an empowered black man professing the truth.

This is ignorance. West has referred to white people as "sisters" and "brothers" innumerable times. Just look around on YouTube. Furthermore, what you fail to take into consideration is the economic and social advantages that a five hundred year old head start confers upon those whites who are alive today.

Alwaysopen: slavery is still a huge problem around the world even in the US, believe it or not. And there are still racial prejudices that result in violence and social injustice.Dr. West isn't giving up this fight for civil rights. There is still much to be done but you have to look for these problems because it has become unfashionable to talk about them still. there still here, still just as bad; I also don't understand what your talking about at all.
