Are you such an "inquiring" mind? You are like the children who in learning to tie shoes believes they now know all the things a Daddy and Mommy know Ranting is predictable, narcissistic shallow & already well known from original sources Try listening instead of talking Writing instead of copying And reading instead of pontificatingAnd most of all .. reflecting over reactingThe common cure for your ailment is in understanding you do not yet know what Mommy and Daddy know

The "dumbing down" of America...

Someone frankly points to your dishonesty? CALL THEM A LIAR. Someone tells you Republicans have a history of racism when they were Democrats? SAY THAT DEMOCRATS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN DEMOCRATS AND ARE ALWAYS THE RACISTS! (even the black ones...ESPECIALLY the black ones & the illegal aliens).Better yet...LET'S GET RID OF ALL superflous "WORDS" ABOVE (they're so redundant) & simplify our vocabulary to "LIBERAL FASCISTS" &/or "SOCIALISTS."THAT'LL showem'!
BARBIPLEAS (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Let us make this clear: "racial discrimination" differs dramatically in meaning from "affirmative action." But I do understand your personal agenda: suck the very vitality out of language itself via Newspeak so as to sufficiently dilute words having any negative or positive connotations that could possibly disclose your own racism and fascism.Someone calls you a right-wing fascist? ARGUE FASCISM IS LIBERAL. Someone calls you a racist? ARGUE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IS RACIST. So dishonest.

Let me ask you this: what is your background in history? Inquiring minds want to know.
BARBIPLEAS (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"Failed"?? What a joke. And, you never answered my question: So what are YOUR credentials in U.S. History? Inquiring minds want to know.

Meanwhile, many modernist ( e.g., "libertarian," "liberal") Republicans became modernist Democrats and postmodernist Democrats, with "modernist" being the more conservative branch of Democrats and "postmodern" being the more liberal or progressive branch of Democrats. The result is thus not two, but four political camps: Progressive Democrats (left), Modernist Democrats (center-left), Modernist Republicans (center-right) & Premodern conservative Republicans (far-right: Dixiecrats & neocons).

Furthermore, the "new" left, liberal Democrats, emerged out of the "old" left, Republican libertarianism, & NOT out of traditional premodern Democrats, who were segregationists from the South so were always traditional and right-leaning. Thus, prior to the '60s, the "left" were Republicans & the "right" were Democrats. After the '60s, traditional (premodern) Dems ("Dixiecrats") defected from the Democratic party to become the "new right" of traditional (conservative) Republicans of today.
BARBIPLEAS (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Thus, during '60s, a transformation occurred which resulted in a shift in consciousness collectively whereby the premodern conservative traditional Democrats ("Dixiecrats") found themselves at odds w/BOTH modernity (the Republicanism of fiscal libertaranism (capitalism) from the American Revolution) AND with the new "left" movement underway, postmodernity (the social liberalism of the Cultural Revolution, which brought about the Civil Rights movement).

BTW, I am also half-Asian though I never felt "discrimated against" during college admission. So please spare me the race card. Japanese typically do not feel "discrimated against" in college admission but are sympathetic to the needs of blacks, who have a long history of oppression in the South. Public education in Georgia is woefully underfunded and, combined with segregation, produced generations of blacks who didn't receive a world-class education. |
