Not just Captain Harlock, but also the Queen Emeraldas series. In the movie adaptation Emaraldas is actually Maetel's sister! Both of these series (and also Space Battleship Yamato in the manga) are all intertwined in what is known as the "Lejiverse"

you can get a C62 class locomotive in HO scale, Kato makes them. (C62 class is the same as the 999) and place a 999 number bord on the front. I've done it and it passed off rather well!
