I may be wrong but I believe it was cancelled because the front hand guard melted after firing a certain amount of rounds.

actually the official name is 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta but they are better known as Delta Force
Orvellrednbacer (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
It's not called Delta bro. Their name is Combat Applications Group.

Don't get me wrong, The M16/M4s are great weapons. My problem is that there is an even better weapon available, an it gets passed up.It was a pain in the ass to have to clean out the M4 every 45 minutes in Iraq because of all the dust. But alas. I suppose it's a moot point. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on an XM8 though, if they ever make a civvy model (unless its like the fugly SL8).
blacksgboy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
ahem.. the almighty M16

lol ur right but Colt did supply the worlds most reliable and most used gun in the army

I cant blame HK for not wanting Colt to throw in some random parts. HK's weapons are downright works of art. That's like taking the Mona Lisa, and before it goes on display, having the museum curator's kid throw in some quick marks with finger paints. |
