Know what? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Johnny spoke to a whole new level of this song! Same words, completely different meaning. powerfull!

part 2Also Johnny Cash can sing i would have thought millions of albums sold worldwide suggest this in a career that lasted over 40 years and i also know that your simple and rather obvious rebuttal may be that the spice girls sold millions of records but not for 40 years they hav'nt.And as for the Johnny Cash version of the song he took a harrowing song about drug addiction completly transcended the meaning and made it his own. Thats music pure and simple.Peace

You obviously have no appreciation or knowledge. Trent Reznor has pioneered and basically invented a genre of music in industrial metal and has been doing so for 20 years now. And unless your pavarroti may he rest in peace, who are you to post comment on who can sing or not when you no doubt sound like a dog licking his balls.Peace

I had never heard either the NIN original or this version until a few days ago and ive never broughts albums by either but i have to say the johnny cash version is far superior in my opinion deeply moving and evocative.

You are aware Reznor would disagree with you right? His first reaction when he saw this video was playing it again because he was amazed with how it turned out.

Wow....the metaphors and the symbolism have me in awe. This was his release.

Trent Reznor is great and everything. With his self pitying, self inflicted pain. But he really did sound like a great big girl on helium, it wasn't even in tune. He was just singing so softly he sounded dreadfully wimpy. Johnny Cash did a good version, it is a good song after all. But I'd like to hear someone who can actually sing perform it. PEACE! |
