you'll know if your ps3 is over heating. the fan inside the ps3 will run faster, and it will noise. I noticed that when i cover the ps3 while its ON.

that top part was hard as hell 2 get on. i was worried i was gonna crush my ps3 tryin 2 get it on. but i got rid of it cause ps3 dont need the cooler.

i just bought this thing and it actually blows hot air out of the ps3, not suck air into it. i don't know what people are thinking when they say that shit, but yeah..this add on is really efficient, but very loud. when i turn on the fans to max, u can feel the air blow out at least 3ft out of the top/right side of the ps3. THIS DOES NOT SUCK AIR INTO UR PS3 PPLZ!! i still might return it because it's so damn loud. nice add on tho, but i don't think it's necessary to have it.

i use folding@home 24/7 and my ps3 gets hotter than usual when i'm just playing a game. the fans also kick on and my ps3 gets kinda loud. i'm thinking of getting some kind of intercooler because i always leave my ps3 on.

the problem with this is tht it starts to fail after 1 week, the fans started to give out, but it is an easy fix you gotta take it apart and remove the stickers on the back of each fan, its the cheap grease that they use that fails so quick, so just replace the grease or use some minerl oil and it make all the noise go way, but you might have to do it every2 months or so, i have too anywway, but this needs some beter lubrication

Lucky for you, mine was out of warranty & since Sony refuses to tell me or anyone else the reason for all the failure to read disc problem's ,I have no way of knowing wether it was 1.4 patch, defective blu-ray lens or a fan issue.
