And to respond about Coldplay having more guitar solos, A: they're not that kind of band and B: Johnny Buckland isn't that kind of guitarist. I couldn't judge because I've never heard him outside of Coldplay, but I'd be willing to bet he can't play very complicated solos. He probably considers those little musical interludes he has guitar solos.

I wouldn't know, not too much of a fan of Joe Satriani. But I'm pretty sure Coldplay doesn't listen to him. And I hate to break it to you, but with how famous Coldplay, and how different they are stylistically, I would be very surprised if Coldplay had ever even heard Joe Satriani.

Even if Coldplay did copy that ONE riff, they get credit for their lyrics etc.

Are you guys aware that bands often trade songs? Joe Satriani is a composer and he is known for selling his music to other bands. That's what composers do lol. He's not going to sue them over this, he is probably behind it. Instrumentalists obviously do not get enough mainstream money in their pocketbook, if you know what I mean. Joe is by far in my top 3 favorite musicians, and I highly doubt he's not behind this.

Really? How so? Is it because they can write, produce, record, and perform music that you couldn't even possibly dream of?If that's your attitude then you must be naive and totally ignorant to the idea of appreciating music and therefore making it. |
